Fishing under Extreme Weather Conditions

Post by brendanc »

I was watching the FLW tour on Lake Erie last weekend. Did anyone see this event? The first day of the final round was brutal. They had 5'-7' waves to contend with on Erie that day. Besides the trouble they had fishing under these conditions, making the run out into the main lake was extremely tuff.

I recenetly fished a tournament on Lake Champlain where the wind was blowing 25+ Mph for two days of practice and on day 1 of the tournament. The section I was fishing only had waves in the 3' class, but it was still difficult to keep on the off shore structure I was fishing. I do not use a drift sock, only my trolling motor and a marker bouy along with my GPS. I thought it might be interesting to hear how other people approach these types of weather conditions while fishing and also running the boat in big waves?

Looking forward to everyone's responses...
