Just make sure when you do set it..keep cranking that helps bury the hook as well. make sure the drag is locked down.

Got that gig down... I've been throwing the Hudd 8"... I guess it would help if I got a hit first before deciding that I will have trouble setting the hook! Right?

You might like the Lake Fork Bass Magic...or have yout tried them already?

I have had the most success with the L.A Slider which was manufactured by MegaBait.

The original version with the slide in and out jigs was discontinued and they now make a version with the jig molded into the lure called the Bass Grande.

(not to be confused with Little Anthony's LA Slider which is not the same)

The original MegaBait L.A. Sliders are hard to find in the 6" size but you can hunt around for some. The pattern I was getting hit on at Castaic was the original rainbow trout.

I fished these on 12 lb. mono slow enough that you could feel them bouncing off the bottom and rocks once in a while. Caught some nice bass over five pounds with them but I have to admit that I did lose a whole bunch of them due to snags.

Ya those werent bad..with that same technique i use river2sea bottom walker or any of the hollow tubes as well as the mission fish, which wont snag. you can even work them like a jig.
the storm line of baits works for that as well and they are cheap.

Robo, I was using a fast retrieve with a pause. The bait runs about 1' - 2' below the surface when you burn it (if that helps).
