Jason,

In SC you fall inbetween based on water temps. It gets cold down there, but not to the point of ice over. Once that water dips into the low 50's and high 40's, the swimbait is not going to be a top producer for you. Will you catch a fish here and there, maybe, but there are other tactics that will probably out perform a swimbait greatly.

Spoons, silver buddies, inline-spinners and even certain spinnerbaits might be better choices. Small jigs, worms, grubs and other dainty lures that can be slowly crawled along the bottom and around structure/cover can also be deadly.
