I wonder if those gloves have an SPF rating. The hot spots for Skin Cancer in fisherman are the hands, ears, and nose, both inside the nose and out. The inside gets hit with the sun reflecting up from the waters surface. Figure how long Clunn has been on the water almost daily and boy are his chances for it high!! Don't forget your sun screen!

All kidding aside, I don't honestly know what the solution is, But the problem does exist and we as fisherman are vulnerable to it. Some more than others!
