These guys put a nice site together and also have a TV show, which you can view while viewing various lake profiles. You can check out their full video at: Flaming Gorge Reservoir at WS Bass

Flaming Gorge Reservoir rests at an elevation of 6,045 feet as part of the Flaming Gorge National recreation Area. Lying in two states, Wyoming and Utah, the reservoir has a total capacity of 3,788,900 acre-feet. It has a surface area of 42,020 acres and depths up to 380 feet. Formed by damming the Green River that project was completed in 1964. The lake freezes over most winters which makes for a growing season that lasts 5 to 6 months.

Anglers will be treated to one of the strongest smallmouth populations in the country. Also present in the lake are rainbow and lake trout, kokanee salmon and channel catfish.

There are many ramps and marina facilities spread out on the lake. Because of it great length it is not uncommon to run out of gas on this lake.

Flaming Gorge is one of the largest freshwater reservoirs in the United States. A thin-arch concrete dam rises 502 feet above bedrock. The dam functions as a water storage facility and produces hydroelectric energy for Utah, Wyoming and Colorado. The reservoir is a major unit of the Colorado River Storage Project.

The high elevation of the reservoir keeps temperatures moderate, 80 degrees Fahrenheit/23.8 degrees Celsius, during the summer months. However the lake does freeze in the winter months.

The lake lies in the northeastern corner of Utah and the southwestern border of Wyoming.
