Bass Lakes around Louisville

Post by JPSartre12 »

It looks like I may be spending a week or so in early May in the Louisville area. I was thinking about bringing my fishing gear for some R&R in between work. I see on the map that there are two good sized lakes nearby, McNeely and Taylorsville. Are these good lakes for spring bass? And if so, any favored spots for shore fishing since I won't have a boat?

Thanks

Hi jp,

This might be a good question for Kevin Springer as he lives in KY. I know he has been fishing Kentucky Lake lately, but I'm sure he could get a pulse on some of the other lakes around Louisville. I check a few websites, but the reports are out dated.

Lake cumberland is supposed to be a pretty good for spots & smallies, but it's 2 1/2 hours from Louisville. How far are you willing to travel? I am assuming you will have a boat with you, is that right?
