Night fishing...could be my answer!

Post by BTwizy »

Well its official I have caught 1 bass since post spawn and yes Im a lil agitated! So anyways Ive fished the mornings, Ive fished the afternoons and I most certantly fished the evening. No luck at all, so that leaves the night!

Im stuck on the shore and its my belief that these fish are just too deep for me to reach. But...they gota come in and feed sometime right? Lotsa crawdads and bugs at night! Not to mention everything cools down a lil. I know they are not comin in during the evening. I fished until 10:30 the night before with no luck but I did go home a lil early for night fishin I think.

Anyways any tips u guys might have would be awesome, I also know noones been catchin anything because I make it a habbit to talk to everyone I see out there. maybe, just maybe I can come out at night and clean house!

BT,

Not only can fishing be better at night, but you may also find that you'll start catching some of the biggest fish in the lake at night. I do a lot of night fishing for bass and most of the time I'm fishing a jig-n-pig, spinnerbait or a topwater lure (jitterbug or buzzbait). I only use "black" at night and have never found the need to change colors.

It seems strange that you (and the others you mentioned) are having a difficult time. Regardless of the temps, early morning and late evenings are usually some of the best activity periods for bass. Have you talked with the local DEP/DEC? Sometimes there is something else going on that you may not be aware of. It is not uncommon for lakes to have "fish kills" or sometimes they treat lakes for weeds control. You should call them up and ask if they know of anything going on recently that may have impacted the fishing.

Hopefully nothing bad has happened... perhaps some night fishing might be the key you are looking for.

Keep us informed...

BTwizy can you do us a favor and post a couple of pictures of where you are fishing . I dont know about every1 else , But when i am fishing i cast to same spot 3 or 4 times and work in a fan type motion . I have found this to be the difference maker and when i started this tech. I found myself catching bigger bass . What all kind of lures are you useing ? The past 2 weeks the bite has been slow here too , but i am still catching LMB . What does the water look like , stained or clear ? It might be hot there but anytime i travel up north the waters are still cool . Have you tried senkos and creature baits , they work great weightless if you havent tried weightless you are missing out it gives the senko a totally different look . Just tryin to help out all i can . I will wait to here back from you before i ask anymore questions . have a good one and stay safe .

You should try to place your own structure . Like trees and big crates . It will attract fish real fast and only you will know where the structure is . Take you a axe and cut down some trees and let them fall in the water . In the pond that i have been stocking i cut some 6 to 8 ft bushes and put them close to the bank and before i knew it i had Bluegill and fathead minnows on them bushes . Broke out my polar sun glasses and saw LMB patroling by . And that was 4 days after doin it . And this upcoming christmas go collect christmas trees and place them 10 to 15 foot off of bank and you will see results fast my friend . Just try it out and you wont be let down . But since there are no structure better make a early day of it get some help and toss them out with some bricks attatched . Good luck

Adding cover will certainly attract bait and bass. Just be careful because not every state allows you to put "things" into the water regardless of what they are. Do some reading on your local DEC/DEP website before you try anything.

Man you alwayz have bad news . lol . Seems like a few here and there would be no harm . But oh well , I tried .Seems like the wouldnt mind as long as you didnt go over board . Even the forage needs a hideing place , or the bass will eat themselves out of house and home . I would stick with small trees and bushes that grow around the lake , That should be safe . Later on .

LOL! I'm just making sure he knows what he is getting into before he gets into it. Could you imagine he got caught and arrested because he didn't know that his state does not allow that?

I know i know . I was just tryin ta help the man . You dont have to set up a thousand different structures . Just 3 or 4 , ya know . I dont seem to remember the laws of fishing and all that . I guess i should pay more attention before i try to help . Good lookin out , Bt i would set out 2 or 3 different structures and use only the small trees around the lake . But thats just me i live on the dangerous side , lmao .

I hear you... I wish we were allowed to do that in NY. Some guys do it regardless of the rules...
