Best Time for Bass Fishing

Post by wgbassgirl »

I know that we probably have tackled this question in the past, but I could not find a post on it anywhere..

I know that it varies between states due to seasonal differences, but when is the best time for bass fishing?

Thanks

Anytime, I rather go fishing then go to work, the store, other then eat and sleep I can't think of a better time to fish. HAHA
Had to say it. But i'll fish anytime, anywhere. Hell I took up saltwater fishing just to change it up sometimes.

Best Time for Bass Fishing

Good question wgbassgirl!!!

From my limited experience at Casatic I would have to say early Spring through early Summer is the best.

After July you kind of hit the dog days. Then it starts to improve in September through the end of November.

I do all of my fishing from the shoreline and from Dec. 1 through Feb. 15 it can be a very tough deal from the shore at Castaic.

For the most part during that (agonizing) ten week stretch I take a brake from bass fishing.... spend some extra time with my family, try to do a little catch up on the "Honey Do List" and also get my gear ready for next season's attack.

The bass usually start coming into close range from the shoreline in mid March and I believe they are looking to stake out the best spawning spots.

That is pretty much the cycle I've become aware of.

Although I have seen and heard a lot about "winter bass". Ironically my personal best was caught on March 18 which makes it technically a "winter bass". But in SoCal by the time March 18 rolls around it usually feels like early summer in a lot of other places.

Good fishing to ya, later........... geobass
