There isn't enough room on this page to answer that question in detail, so I'll give you the condensed version to keep in your mind while you fish. The best Crankbait is the one that will make regular contact with the bottom in whatever depth you have determined the fish to be in. It should be the color of the predominant forage and these factors should be in effect regardless of the speed of retrieve. If you move the bait very fast and its ripping grooves in the bottom change to a bait that will just tick the bottom at that depth on a fast retrieve. You don't want to create ditches in the bottom you want the bait to tick the bottom and kick up and out and then recenter itself and dig again. There is so much to fishing cranks effectively and some of it can't be taught off of the water. Just fish them, make them hit something and pay attention to what your feeling through the line. Oh yeah, I'm a rebel and norman guy.

I fish cranks all the time and the only one i do good with is a rattle trap , fishing it slow off the bottom . I would love to show up at a pond or lake and the crank bait is on fire like all my other lures . This lure is the only one i cant get down for some reason . Go figure
