Underwater Viewing Cameras?

Post by johnnie crain outdoors »

Hi Joe,
It was minnesota. They also wanted to ban trolling motors because trolling was illegal so many manufacturers re-named their motors, positioning motors. Luckily for everyone, these proposals died from lack of interest.
Joe you ever notice those lure commercials where their product is banned in 13 states? Ever really heard of any product banned in any state, not I. Thanks Joe, Johnnie

Dont like em'!

I am happy to see they have been banned during tournaments ( to my knowledge ).
I feel they can hurt the sport of angling in that they do not promote fair chase.
Of coarse depth finders such as liquid crystal graphd and the flashers before them were looked at the same way when first on the scene. But I feel there is a big difference.
Graphs must be looked at by a skilled person who knows the habitat requirments of fish and how they will relate to certain types of habitat. Then that person using the knowledge of the specie he/she is targeting must use their skill to make an educated guess as to what type of fish they may be seeing on the screen. ( this is a simple and short explanation )
Cameras I beleive do not require as much skill and make it much too easy for an angler to eliminate many of the variables that make our sport challenging. How hard is it to look at a tv screen and then watch as a fish takes your bait, or to see how the fish reacts to the bait and then make the proper adjustments? I for one love video games. PS2 keeps me alive during winter!! But underwater cameras for the use of catching fish?

I do beleive however thay can be a great educational tool, and probably are very fun to use recreationally.

I feel the best action to take to keep our resourses from being exploited would be to ban cameras for the use of fishing.

Jeremiah - If the tape comes out clear, can I get in line for a copy also. This is cutting edge stuff here. Would love to be able to see this footage. Let me know.

I guess if the tape comes out the way I am hoping for, anyone that wants one can just send me a blank tape and a self addressed stamped envelope and I will just copy it for everyone. Just so you all know I am in no way, shape or form an expert underwater photographer, so this isn't going to be nature channel quality.

I will keep all of you posted when I get the tape done and how it turns out.

JT-Are you saying you are no Marty Stauffer?

No worries, just to be able to see what the baits are doing is enough for me, heck, I don't even need commentary...but it sure wouldn't bother me either!

Thanks for the consideration.

J.T.B.,
Looks like you've opened up a can of worms with the Aqua-Vu. You'll be getting a lot of blank tapes, maybe even tapes of guys children when they were babies, if that's all they have. Your idea is good and I wish you luck on getting good shots. I just now got a new cable for my unit. The old one got twisted and broke. I've using it to see what's behind the couch. Can't wait till spring, but you know how spring is around here. When it warms up, it floods. I hope to fish some of your tournaments this year on pool 16. I don't especially like 16, but fishing is fishing, you take what you get, it's always fun anyway. Let me know when you're free to do another radio show with me. I'll keep a date open. Again, good luck with the tape. Johnnie Crain

Please don't get J.T. talking on the video. Because as much as he likes to write and talk it will be a 4 hour video .

Just kidding J.T. what you have is a wonderful idea, maybe a marketing idea for a video series. I'll take one free while your not charging though .
