Bassmaster's Classic Winner??

Post by johnnie crain outdoors »

Pro Staff,
Every year, I try to forecast who will win the Bassmaster's Classic, so far I've been right four times. Question? Who would you like to see win the big show? Van Dam, Biffle, Hibdon's, Roland, Federation Champion, Nixon, Clunn, Brauer's, Klein, Fritts, someone else, maybe an unknown?
I always have fun with this, and of course, at that level it's anybodies game to win or lose. Just something to kick around, we all have favorites right? Give me some imput guys. Johnnie Crain

Bassmaster's Classic Winner??

Johnnie,

I am going to have to go with my buddy Dave Lefebre. He is a rookie this season. It would be so awesome to watch his dream come true on ESPN.

JT, I wish Dave all the luck, it is extremly tough to even reach the Classic. As a rookie, he may pull it off. I would think, a rookie would have less pressure especially from the media etc. It would be nice to see some new blood also. Thanks, Johnnie Crain

Johnnie, that's a loaded question... I think most guys would like to see "themselves" with the Classic.

Aside from myself winning (it would help if I made an attempt at getting there first), I would really like to see Larry Nixon take a Second WIN at the Classic, because he's 3 WINS behind Rick Clunn (Clunn took 1st in 1990, 1984, 1977 & 1976)

Seriously, I would like to see Larry Nixon take another Classic... he's been around a long time and has given so much to this sport.

Brendan and Don, Thanks for replying. Both are good answers. No doubt, Larry Nixon has the ability to win it all at any time, the guys "coolness" really sets him apart. Any Federation anglerr that even qualifies has got to be a threat, no one works harder than these guys simply to get thet maybe once in a lifetime shot. Brian K. did it, proving it can be done.
Brendan, I suppose you think I'll be voting for Rick Clunn since he is my personal hero?? Maybe!! I'll post later. There are lots of anglers I'd like to see win it all, including, Denny Brauer, Charlie Campbell, Guido Hibdon, again, Van Dam, not really, he's already too energetic, nice guy though, Roland, not my style, too HUMBLE? I'll pick after a few more posts.

My vote is for Clunn, here is a true legend, diplomat of the sport, who didn't qualify for it last year. Imagine he won his fifth??? Awesome!!!

I'd have to go along with Craig on this one.
Larry is one of the real class guys in the sport. If he doesn't win, then I would like to see Gary Klein take the Classic. Another class individual.

Thanks, guys.

Well I'm going with Mister Humility, Roland Martin. He's got 18 victories and a ton of angler of the years. 90 top ten finishes, But no classic. Kind of like being MVP for ten years without a world series ring. He's the guy that came up with the philosophy of pattern fishing, so we all use his theories . Yup he gets my vote even if he is.....Humble :-]

I'm gonna have to go with my fellow Glamour Shad Pro Staffer Dustin Wilks. He's a great person and has a bright future. He has been very consistent and worked hard to where he is today. As all of the tour pros have.
Well there's my vote.
