Best Fishing Times

I know we would love to fish 24/7, but in your opinion, what are some of the better hours of the day or night to fish? Which days of the week do you prefer to fish? I'm sure some will agree and disagree with me on this, but iof given just a few hours to fish, I prefer 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. followed by 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Ever notice how good the fish bite right after tournament hours? My best days are Weds & Thursday. I guess to the boat traffic die-down, if there is such a thing. Looking forward to some posts. Johnnie, thanks.

Johnnie,

I think I would have to agree with you on both times and days. I might go a little earlier in the morning though.

Johnnie,

The best time for me to fish is any time that I have the opportunity. I cheerish every time I spend on the water.

Mark, you are right, I always say" the best time to go fishin' is when you have the time". There are times though that I prefer to be on the water.
JT, I'd like to go a little earlier, and stay a little later, you know, just one more cast. Thanks guys, Johnnie

My favorite time to fish is between the hours of 11:00pm and 3:00am. After the sun has set, and the fish are adjusted to the change in light conditions. Now your sucess will vary upon a New Moon compaired to a Full Moon. Or a clear night compaired to a cloudy night. Its really a fun time, just be careful of yourself and you buddy

Lunker Dave, you're right, those are some good hours especially on busy lakes or ultra clear lakes. I once fished a twenty four hour tournament on clear-Bull Shoals, Mo./Ark. and we did well right at midnight using paddle tail, 6" purple worms in forty feet of water. Quite an experience. Night fishing is a whole new ball game.

Johnnie,
You know me. Anytime I can hit the water I work at it just as hard as possible. However, the times you mentioned are good selections. A few years ago a survey was taken, which showed that the largest bass were caught between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. This holds true to my logs. I've caught several bass between 5 and 8 pounds during the hours of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with most being around 11:30 a.m. to 12:30. Some of these have been during days with temperatures well into the 90's, and a heat index around 106 to 110.

Looks like fish may take their lunch time the same as humans. Johnnie, maybe they've watched you eatting your sweet rolls and sausages, and drinking coffee - thus, giving them the idea.

Best of fishing,
Dan
