Fishing Grass Beds

Post by Murphangler »

Okay, so I fished Lake Toho in the FLW ICAST Cup last week, and we spent the majority of our time in one grass field (100x30 yards) looking for fish. After catching two in a span of two minutes after we drifted the bed line, we had ZERO bites over the next hour. So, we checked the contour lines underneath the beds using our Navionics+ chip, and sure enough, there was a reason that one spot held fish: there was a living room sized 1 foot drop off hole in the middle of that grass field that attracted the fish, and it was undetectable from above.

Bottom line, ALWAYS check your bottom contours, especially when fishing shallow grass beds. That small change in bottom depth could make all the difference, and the only way to know its there its to have your unit turned on. https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hp ... e=564CFA8E" alt="" />
