Need some info!

Post by catt951 »

A member in my bass web site writes the following. Since I'm not from this area I knew some one here could help.

Any SC fishermen in this group? Have you ever fished Lake Greenwood with any success? I have been fishing this lake a few times a year for the past 3 years. I can not find a pattern to the fish...except for scattered!!!

I just got back from a 4-day trip to the lake. I fished morning, afternoon, and evenings. Water temps were consistently warm to hot. Surface water temps were consistently over 80 degrees. Water clarity varied greatly depending on the part of the lake I was fishing. I stayed in shallow water in early morning and late evening fishing mostly around docks and on a few weed flats. During the day, I fished creek channels in 8 to 15 feet of water.

I did catch a few bass, but only a few...one or two per outing. I would like info on the lake from anyone that knows it.

Thanks,

Col Bill

Catt951,
I've never been on that particular lake, but if I was to fish it, I would stay with the dingiest water I could find and fish it all day. Bass are very active in 80 degree water in the shallows in dingy water. I'd stick with reaction baits, spinnerbaits burned across the surface and shallow crankbaits moving fast. Rat-L-Traps will most likley work well too, especially around the weed beds. It doesn't sound like the lake has large numbers of fish so moving fast, hitting the points, inlets and cove feeder creeks in dingy water would be my stratigy. Hope this helps next time out. Let me know, even if I'm wrong. Good luck, Johnnie
