Good Luck Charms
Just wondered how many of you have something that is a good luck charm in fishing.
A few years ago, when I was having a very tough time at Christmas Johnnie Crain gave me a belt buckle that said "I'd Rather Be Fishing". It seems like I started wearing the buckle I've caught more state award fish, and whenever I've worn it, I don't think I've been "skunked". I didn't realize this until about a year ago.
I know Lonnie Stanley had a good luck charm that was a hook he had for his hat. He couldn't find it. Then one day it was found before a big tournament. He put it on his cap, and won.
I've heard of other such things in all sports, and tought this might be something different to share with the memebers.
Best of fishing,
Dan

Yea I got one! Patrick C. Miller my fishing buddy for the last 25 yrs. We've fished Toledo Bend together all those yrs. & mostly at night. We've had some great time catching fish & some not so great times. No matter who's the front of the boat the fish are in trouble!

Dan, I want that buckle back!!
I guess my good luck charm is my Grandson, Trayven, he encourages me and says I'm the best in the world, wouldn't want to disappoint him. Good post Dan.

I wear my old, torn fishing vest. I want to be buried in it so I can continue to catch fish through eternity. lol

Craig, I know how you feel about the old crusty hat,I have one too. I must own twenty hats, but it's the only one that has formed itself around my head and feels good.
Frank, vests are nice, but don't get buried in it too soon, we're not through with you yet! Johnnie

Got one myself! It's my father-in-laws early 70s unicast rod and reel. He got me into fishing years ago, 5 years ago he passed away. I never use the pole I only keep it in my rod tie downs. I do get some funny looks as it's a little out of place next to modern outfits. It gives me luck, and supports memories.

I always turn around three times and then do a head stand on the dock all the while talking to myself, I never seem to have a problem with people trying to muscle me out of my spot...just kidding, I couldn't do a head stand if I had to! No, my youngest daughter gave me a peice of a shell she found on the beach in Maine, she said it would bring me luck, I don't think it works, but when I get a bit frustrated, I rub it between my thumb and fingers and it always makes me smile and remember there's no reason to be frustrated. That does seem to help me get my head back in the game which probably does more for me than anything.

I carry a rock in my pocket at every tournament. The rock is called an Alaskan Black Diamond. My grandpa got it for me on one of his trips to Alaska and I have carried it ever since.
Then last year I went to some oriental store and they had a little jar that said "Japanese Lucky Stones" so I bought one and now my grandpa carries that with him when he fishes.
