Jigging Spoons For Bass

I will be in Missouri/Arkansas next week fishing on Norfork Lake. At this time of year, anglers catch a lot of bass jigging spoons in over 30 feet of water. My question? Have any of you experimented with and had success with various colored spoons? I have caught fish on the traditional chrome Hopkin's Shorty, but haven't tried colored spoons. I know they manufacture various colors, but wonder if down that deep, even in clear water if color is a consideration? Any help? Thanks, Johnnie

Johnnie,
You know I've used the jigging spoons, but mine have been the Mann's Mann-O-Lure. I've used the pearl/black color with some success, but the plain chrome and hammered chorme have always been the best. Here is another trick. Try some Carlson Glitter On, especially the hologram color.

In my geographical area, we don't spoon all that much due to a real lack of deep water to do it in. In the few places I've done it, I've used a Hopkins shorty, BPS Laser blade and a Little George.....which isn't a spoon but it worked in the deep situations.

I stick with forage match the hatch colors. Gold and Silver being my faves. I do throw a rainbow trout color in waters that dictate its use. It is a cool way to eke out a few fish in the cold weather.
