Hey guys my name is Brett Neffendorf. I am currently 16 years old almost 17 and I am from Scappoose, OR. I hunt ducks and geese alot and I am just getting into fishing. If anyone from Oregon wants to help me out and let me know what areas to find BASS in that would be awesome! I would love to get started. Thanks for all of your help and this site looks awesome.

on any lake the best place to find bass is in cover they dont like the sun becaus they dont have eye lids they are prone to cover all kinds . stumps tires grass dropoff they will sit off dropoff waiting for crawdads and other to pray on they are a amush creature :"::the best lure is the garry yamamoto baits with a weighted weedliss hook to swim that thought that cover thell hit like a car "slam" thats what i use hope i hellped

Brett, being originally from eastern Oregon, I could help you out on that end. At least I can tell you there are places to go close to you. The Columbia river is an excellent smallmouth river as well as the John Day a bit further east of you. I can't speak for your local lakes, but you can check the fish and game web site and see if they stock any of them. You can also check for local bass clubs.

Thanks for all of the help guys. I will take you up on that offer! I could use all the help I could get on learning this stuff. Hopefully I catch a few this spring and summer and learn what its like. This is going to help me keep my mind off of hunting for a while. Dang man I am hooked to waterfowl. lol. Hopefully I get addicted to BASS FISHING

Dude being from Southwest Louisiana I hear ya when you talk about Waterfoul hunting. I still get a rush when I hear geese fling over.

Brett, welcome aboard.
Wherever you fish for bass the same rules generally apply. Bass behave about the same everywhere. Lake bass and river bass differ somewhat in their habitat, but other than that they are the same. Bass will always be near some type of cover, weeds, stumps, brush, fallen trees, rocks or on points and around islands. Bass everywhere need food, they either feed on panfish, shad, crawfish, minnows or whatever is the dominant food fish. Look for these combinations, cover, access to deeper water and a food source. Even the bottom can at times be considered as cover. When bass suspend between the bottom and surface they usually are hard to catch, try to find some good, shallow cover, it's just easier to catch fish. Also, look for stained water, extremely clear water can be tough. In rivers look for current breaks, stumps, rocks, buoys, anything to break up the current flow will help, the fish usually hide behind the object in slower current. Good luck and keep in touch. What types of bait do you all use? Any live bait? what are the types of bait I will need to catch BASS with this spring and summer? Thanks

Brett, I do not use live bait for bass, they swallow it too often. Good spring baits include, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, tube jigs, a jig and trailer combo and soft plastic creature baits or lizards. Good luck this spring.

Thanks for the info. I will be fishing where I do some hunting. Its in a marsh right by a place that is all leased out for BASS fishing. Its a pretty neat area. Lots of timber, grass, ect.... growing all around in it. Hopefully I can get the hang of it this season. Thanks
