fishing after ice
Hi Heavy,
By all means go fishing right after ice out. Some really huge fish may be caught at this time. The big ones come in, look for good spawning sites then retreat to deep water again to await the proper water temperature. Don't expect many strikes or hard hits, look for two or three good hits a day. Yes, fish slow. Jig and pig, slow rolled spinnerbaits, soft plastic or hard body- jerk baits, especially one's that suspend work well. Small crankbaits may also work, fish them slow also, crank them down to their pre-set depth, then keep a slow staedy retrieve. Make it an easy target. Go get 'em! Johnnie
