What is a slider bait? I heard a fella on another site saying that he caught a large mouth on a slider bait? Maybe I got it wrong but I believe he said slider bait. Thanks

Brett, good question.
Slider baits are a simple to use bait mostly associated with the do-nothing technique. The slider rig is actually a flattened jighead, at least flat on the bottom, with a grub added to the jighead. Some use twister tails, but straight grubs work best. Cast the rig out, allow to sink to desired depth and begin a slow methodic retrieve, don't add any action to the bait, it supposed to be a non-invasive bait, it triggers strikes because it seems like a minnow that is completely unaware its about to be dinner. This technique works very well in deep-clear lakes and in some smallmouth streams. Avocado seems to be the best color in most situations. It's worth a try. I think Gapen makes a bait called the Ugly Bug that is considered to be a slider. Charley Brewer developed the bait and techniques twenty years ago, and it still works.
