I have used many brands of polarized sun glasses and found some better than others. I want to know which brands you prefer for sight fishing? Most lakes I fish are slightly stained. However: this June I will be smallie fishing in Gin clean water.
Some brands now offer a interchangable lens.
My biggest want is: a type that stops light penatration from around the frames and has high quality polarization. Price is not a consideration for me.

You state that money is not an issue. If that is the case, they I would look into Maui Jim, Costa Del Mar, and Hobie. These are very well established companies that have been in the business for years and have put lots of money into R&D. They are usually made from very strong, lightweight materials, and have very good polarization. Not all polarized glasses are made equal.

The second item that differentiates these manufacturers is perspective or accuracy through the lenses. Sunglass lenses have curves. These curves will bend the light coming through and will alter the image coming through. Usually it will only be slight and sometimes unnoticeable unless you really look for it. But the reason I mention this is that the higher end manufacturers take extra care to make sure that their glasses are "optically correct".

Maui Jims and Costa Del Mar are about $170 to $225. Hobies are about $100 and up.

Oakley makes polarized glasses now as well but I've never tried them. I've had non polarized Oakley glasses and have been happy with them and usually they don't go half-a$$ with their products so it would be safe to say they are good.

An inexpensive line would be Bolle. Their polarized line starts at about $30 I believe.

Whatever you, spend another $10 on a good adjustable strap. This way, when you bend down to change a lure or pick up that 10 pounder you just caught out of the water, you won't be watching your investment fall off and sink into the water.

Also, always carry your case with you and a chamois to clean your lenses...do not use your t-shirt to clean an expensive pair of glasses unless you don't mind to buy a new pair each season. Most manufacutrers warranty their frames, but they do not warranty their lenses.

BB - I just switched to Lure Eyes. I got their Toho with amber lenses. So far I'm very happy and Curt, the owner, has been very helpful and was a joy to work with. Check them out at www.lureeyes.com

I wear Bolle' Bass frame glasses with K-B-Co lens. Both dark and brown tone, The dark for sunny days, brown for clouds. They work very well. About $80.00 I think, mine were comped. Good luck on your choice. Johnnie

Before you invest in yet another pair of expensive polaroid sunglasses. Pick up a hat called an Updowner. Its a long brimmed baseball cap with a cape to keep the sun off of your neck and to form a shade tent around your face. It cuts out light from reflecting off the back of the sunglass lens. Side shields help as well. It was developed for flats fishing in salt water where sight fishing is the only game, year round. They are far ahead of bass fishing when it comes to seeing in shallow water, and the talk is always about the tent and not the lens. Give it a try.
