Arbogast Mudbugs

Post by jeremy_221 »

In one of the other posts I saw that two of you had posted about a mud bug. I have one of these baits and never know when to use it or how to use it. Any information for my on where to fish it and how to fish it? When do I fish it? Any information would be helpful. Thanks for the time!

Jeremy, first, an Arbogast Mudbug is a classic bait that will catch fish right out of the package. I use them in areas that have from 6 to 12 feet of depth. The 1/4oz model runs about 6 ft or so. the bigger ones plod deeper. Second, I happen to cut my bugs up and plant rattles, or lead in the to make them suspend. This is where I catch a ton of good fish on the Bug. A craw type bait that you can suspend near the bottom??? Oh yes, you'll notice there are none on the market as of yet, that is why this is so deadly. Perhaps I'll give a tutorial in the future oin how to do it...but not now, the fishing is too good.

Good advise from Craig, as always. I use the Mud Bug basically the same way. I use them anytime I feel that crawfish should be the main forage diet. Along rocks, clay or mud banks, especially in spring and fall. I simply use a medium retrieve, don't want to over-power the bait. Enjoy the bait, it's fun to use and effective! Johnnie
