I have a manual SOSpender PFD. I use it only after the water temp reaches 70 degrees and when I'm not in a bassboat doing 60 or better
(trying to find the lanyard while I'm flying through the air- assuming I would no longer be seated if I required a PFD)
How does the Pro Staff feel about this type of PFD? Do you use them?

SOSpender-type PFD's
Joe I am not using the suspenders (yet). I have heard alot of good thing about them. and after falling out of the boat a couple of times and seeing how close I came to hitting a stump under the water, I have really wonder why I havent already bought one. That brings up another question.
Do you think that the automatic one would be the one to buy? If you fall out and hit a stump or the bottom and get knocked out who is going to deploy the manual one for you? Then again every time it rains is the vest going to go off on its own costing $20 to rearm this type of vest? Which way do you go?

Conley- I have a theory that if I wear the manual SOSpenders in a bass boat going 50-60-70 mph and we meet up with anything that makes the boat go slower than me, I can't react fast enough even to find the lanyard (while I am airborne) much less get it to inflate the PFD. Therefore I wear a normal PFD that I KNOW will keep most of me afloat. Will I be breathing when the water calms? I certainly hope so.
I might attempt to use the automatic in a bassboat. I do know they inflate quickly. A buddy of mine found that out while we were attempting to keep his boat off the rocks with the wind approaching 35 mph.
He fell in (only from his head to his waist and when he pulled himself back in, I didn't dare smile. If I had, I would have been in the water myself.
