ok ok ok here is the BIG story

i wrot this email to www.meatyouremeat.com
telling them that they are full of them self please dont go there ther sutch liers
any way i got an email back fom peta cus now im on ther mailing list that reads """Thank you for contacting PETA about our efforts to raise awareness of
the suffering caused by fishing.

No one would consider doing to other animals what some so casually do
to
fish-trick them into impaling themselves in the mouth and pull them
into
an environment where they can't breathe. But whether they are bass or
basset hounds, catfish or cats, all animals treasure their lives and
feel pain.

According to Dr. Donald Broom, animal welfare advisor to the British
government, "The scientific literature is quite clear. Anatomically,
physiologically and biologically, the pain system in fish is virtually
the same as in birds and mammals. In animal welfare terms you have to
put fishing into the same category as hunting." Adds Dr. Austin
Williams, a U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service zoologist, fish "are
sentient organisms, so of course they feel pain."

Angling doesn't just hurt fish, either. Every year, anglers leave
behind
a trail of victims that includes millions of birds, turtles, and other
animals who suffer debilitating injuries after swallowing fish hooks or
becoming entangled in fishing line. Wildlife rehabilitators say that
discarded fishing tackle is one of the greatest threats to aquatic
animals.

Today's commercial fishers use huge nets, sometimes miles long, that
stretch across the ocean swallowing everything in their path. Because
these nets are so vast, huge numbers of fish and other sea animals are
caught "by mistake." Factory trawlers haul up tens of thousands of fish
in one pull, keeping the most profitable and dumping the rest back.
This
practice is responsible for up to 30 million tons of dead and dying
fish
each year. Factory trawlers are emptying the oceans of sea life at an
alarming pace. According to The New York Times, "More than 70 percent
of
commercial fish stocks are now considered fully exploited, overfished,
or collapsed." In addition, hundreds of thousands of seals, whales,
porpoises, and other marine mammals every year become entangled in nets
and drown.

Aquaculture, or fish farming, is now big business. In fact, most of the
trout, catfish, and many other species of fish consumed in the U.S. are
raised in fish factories. Factory-farmed fish are kept in shallow
concrete troughs. The intensive crowding spreads infection and
parasites, so, like their counterparts in the meat industry,
factory-farmed fish are fed antibiotics and growth hormones to make
them
fatter more quickly.

We cannot dismiss the rights and feelings of fish simply because we
perceive that they are less intelligent. Superior intelligence does not
entitle humans to abuse other humans, so why should it entitle humans
to
abuse beings other than humans?

Fishing is far from a healthy and harmless pastime. We hope that you'll
take a moment to visit our Web site about this issue at http://www.FishingHurts.com. To learn more about how to help fish and
other animals by eating delicious food, please see http://www.VegStarterKit.com.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. I
hope this information is helpful.

Sincerely,

The PETA Staff

What about Jesus and the fish? Didn't Jesus eat fish?

Probably not: There is strong evidence suggesting that Jesus was a vegetarian. The only stories depicting Jesus eating fish took place after the resurrection, and most Biblical scholars agree that they are very late additions to the Gospels. The scribes who added the stories were not, apparently, averse to eating fish. But since this is the only depiction anywhere in the Gospels of Jesus eating any animals at all, it seems that he was a vegetarian.

welll i say booooo on them people are so freaking crazy and full of it and they think that fishing is so horible> boo on them
boo on them
fish its good for you

Heavy,

We will forever be plaqued by members of PETA and other organizations. I have found it best to just assume they are trying to do what they think is right, but, they must allow us the same freedoms of expressions.
As an Outdoor Writer, Peta loves to write me notes telling me what an awful person I am. Funny, when I'm landing that bass, I don't feel awful at all, except awful happy to have the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. Peta has an agenda to ban all sport and commercial fishing, but through organizations like Bassin' USA and thousands of others, they've got a steep hill to climb.
