Just sat down after a day on Wilson lake Al. Caught 4 Smallmouth and 9 Largemouth most in the 2 1/2 to3 lb range one Smallmouth tiped at 4lb 9oz. All released alive and well. Largemouth bunched up on main lake bluffs. Smallmouth were scattered from bluffs to pea graval. Water temp 45 air temp in the 50's still seems cool when running on plain, but a good day all in all.

I just got off the water. Conditions are similiar to what you described, water 40-45, air temp around 50 on the water, but cloudy. Usualy when we get a warm spell, south wind and sunlit days they will come up into the shallows. Not today, they were in 20 to 30 feet of water. Never got a bite. What kind of bait are you using? I fished shallow and deep using jigs, spinners, and cranks. Carl

All my fish came on Bucktail Jig and black with red glitter zoom chunk. Largemouth came off bluff banks with a 8' to 12' ledge. They were just off the ledge's pull it off the ledge and bump there he would be. Smallmouth seemed to be moving out of deep water to pea graval flats. They act like they were moving to staging areas to spawn.
I tie Bucktail jigs and pretty much are my go to bait. I threw a jerk bait for several hours without a strike, first two cast with the jig took fish so I stuck with it the rest of the day. talked with a couple guys at the ramp that got skunked on crankbaits, water temp. a little low for cranks I think.
