When George Perry and one of his brother's went out to catch dinner for their family on a warm afternoon in June of 1932, he wasn`t aware that he was going to be the most sought after angler in bassdom. He also had no idea that his 22 pound 4 ounce massive Largemouth Bass would someday be worth possibly millions to someone who caught one larger.
Perry was only twenty years old and loved to fish and hunt around Montgomery lake in south central Georgia. After his father passed away he felt responsible for all the family needs. He and his brother set out for what was to be the surprise of their lives.
With only two lures and one rod the young men set out to one of there ace in the hole bass spots to rustle up the evening meal . Perry cast the lure out and gave it a couple of twitches when all at once all heck broke loose as a huge bass rolled and then dove deep into cover to try and toss the hook. As the story goes Perry was more worried about the loss of his lure than the fish. With great strength he worked the fish out of the heavy brush and beached the massive bruiser to shore. This was the biggest bass they had ever seen and the brother's decided to have the fish weighed at a local post office. Much to their surprise the fish weighed in at 22 pounds four ounces. They measured it at thirty one inches long with a girth of an incredible twenty seven inches around. Later that night mom cooked up the prize catch for the family. On route 117 near Montgomery Lake, Georgia there is a historical marker that commemorates Perry's incredible catch.

Record weigh
The record bass was caught on a South Bend Wiggle Fish crankbait. Perry did receive a small prize from Field and Stream Magazine.
