Keeping fish alive

Post by carl »

Had a small club tourny this last weekend. Several boats came in with dead fish. They had their aerators on, changed water, and added ice. I assume the ice was in a Ziplock, at least I hope so. We, on the other hand, didn't have one working, and brought our fish in alive. I'm totaly convinced it was because of the additive Rejuvinade. Barring heavy wave action, I've never lost a fish while using this product. Not only will you're fish make it to weigh-in, but I believe it will increase thier chances for survival when released. Well worth the money. Carl.

Carl,
You're right, the chemicals in Rejuvinade not only help the fish breathe, but also will help keep fungus from growing on the fish from being handled. Most additives work well, it slows the fishes metabolismn down slightly, thus they require less oygen, move around less and fight for dominance less in the well. Good job!! Johnnie

Keeping fish alive

This is a very good subject to bring up. Last year we fished alot of tournaments when it was just dang HOT! We lost a couple of fish that cost us dearly in the tournament. I told my self I was going to change that this year and this is what I did.

First thing I did was buy a big bottle of KEEP ALIVE and will treat each well with it first thing in the morning. Soon as a launch the boat I fill the well with cool water before the sun gets up.

Second thing I did was buy an airiator that runs off my starting battery and comes on each time the pumps recirculate. The airstones I put in it are very large and move alot of water.

Third thing I did was put two plastic hooks glued to the inside of the wells with little bungie cords attached to them. I freeze two liter coke bottles filled with water and put them in the well held in place by the bungie cords. So far I have not lost a fish and all are healthy and very lively come weigh-in time.

My boat came with the Pro Air system already installed but I also wanted the air pump in there just to help.
Thanks,
Conley Staley
