Bank Fishing

Post by Phil The Heat »

Hi, I am new to the board. Me and some friends of mine like to go to the public fishing area of Lake Jordan in N.C. We like to sit on the bank and relax and fish. I try to catch some Bass with my artificial lures, but not even a bite. The are tons of vertival structure, limbs, and weeds. What lure/technique wold help. A little more info would be that we do catch small/young fish with live worms. The area looks great, but doesn't produce Bass.

Phil, it's hard to beat a 3/8th ounce white and silver spinnerbait. Six inch purple worms rigged Texas style. A black/blue jig and pig. A swimming minnow bait, Rebel-Rapala-Rogue-Chrome or bone color. Cast parallel to the banks and fish any heavy cover with the worms and jig. Cast right into the cover use a slow stop and go retrieve. Berkley's Gulp worms are also very effective. Go get 'em. Johnnie

Hey Phil, johnnie hit it nicely, with a spinnerbait and minnow.I like useing a weightless senko,in a green pumpkin color,on a 3/0 ewg hook.I also use a top water popper in a 1/4 ounce, in a baby bass pattern.Twitch it then pause.Twitch it twice, then pause.I've gotten some violent strikes this way.I hope this helps you.Good luck and good fishing. bassman 20042

I agree about the popper. I used to fish out of Lake Jordan when i live in N.C. and i usually had good luck with a popper. Also, if it doesn't have a feathered hook on the back, put one on.
