Jig Pigs
Would someone please explain to me exactly what a jig & pig is? I have read articles on them and they talk about pork rinds but I don't understand exactly what they are talking about. Thanks in advance.

a jig n pig is a lure that has a skirt on it and u pull it on the bottom and a pig is a trailer u put on the back of it to look like claws it is made to look like a crawdad

Jig Pigs
Rookie, A jig and pig is a leadhead jig with an added skirt just like a spinnerbait skirt. The jig eye is generally on top of the head and the head design can be pointed for weed fishing or rounded or even football shaped for heavy cover fishing. Neraly all coors are available but, black and blue, green and brown or punkinseed or some top choices. Jig sizes may range from 1/8th ounce to a full ounce in weight with 5/16- 1/4 and 3/8 being my favorites.
The jighead usually comes with a built-in weed guard for obvious reasons, so it can be flipped or pitched right into heavy cover. Use heavy lines.
The pig is actually a cut out piece of pork with the skin left on it. some are short and wide with forked tails to resemble a crawfish others are long and then and sliced all the way done to resemble an eel. Colors include brown, crawfish, baby bass, black and blue and frog pattern green. Uncle Josh makes the bulk of these units, they come in jars of three or four depending on size which ranges from about 1 1/2 inches to a full two inch length. There are a number of creature baits made of soft plastic that can be substituted for the pork especially in warmer water. Go to any search engine and type in bass jigs and photos will come up of the product. Nearly every good magazine will have a photo and story on jig and pig fishing. Good luck, Johhnie You can also use a jig with a three to four inch single tail plasic trailer to perform the swimming jig technique.

Jig Pigs
Thanks guys. I have been using a jig (still learning the finer points of jigging) for a while. I just didn't understand the "pig" part of "jig & pig." I have tried putting a 4" Gulp red shad on it for a trailer (pig I guess you would call it) but no luck so far. I think I just need practice at the presentation. Anyway, thanks again.
