Jig Heads

Post by RookieBassMan »

While looking at jig heads I saw some "Stand Up" heads. I tend to prefer the gliders as they don't catch on the weeds as much. Please let me know what you guys think of these "Stand Up" heads. Are they a good investment or am I better off just sticking with what I have been using? Thanks in advance.

Jig Heads

Rookie,
Stand up jigs are a great tool especially in weeds when using floating soft plastics. This style jighead actually will not only be snagless, but more importantly, will keep the plastic lures tail section up out of the debris and moss, and keeps it highly visible to the fish. These jigs I like to hop along the bottom, hop and stop. Let the tail action of the bait do the work as it rises and falls. I prefer twisdter tail-ribbon worms over creature baits for this application. Good luck.
Am raising your star rating to 4 due to good questions and participation. Johnnie

Jig Heads

Just got some of those standup jigs myself a few days ago. Was watching a fishing show and they had "spot removers" on the show. Explained how to use them and what made them unique. Seems like a good thing to me. When the jig sits on the bottom the worm stands up so the fish can easily get it in their mouth. With the hook standing up too, there is a better chance he will get hooked. Will definitely be using them on the next trip.
