Memories that still make you smile.

Post by carl »

When I see a father and son fishing together, that makes me smile. Another is I was fishing the back of this cove one spring day, fan casting in very shallow water. With one cast I see my line moving, so I set the hook (worm), and nothing. I recast to the same spot, watch my line move to left about six feet, set the hook, zip. Recast again and watch my line move about 20 feet, set the hook, zip again. This goes on for about an hour and I'm laughing my...off. I could have switched baits and caught HIM, but the little guy had done so much work guarding his nest, that I didn't have the heart to catch him. I still smile when I talk about. Carl

Carl, you're right, some of my fondest memories are of days and times I never even boated a fish. One time I caught 37 bass in a tournament and not one was even a keeper-that's with a 12 " limit back then. I may have set a record? I once lost about a ten pound walleye right at my feet (bank fishing) that would have beat my Grandfathers biggest ever walleye-glad it got off. He bragged about his fish until his death as being the biggest in the family. He never knew I had caught one bigger.
