Proper mechanics of flipping?

OK gents I have an angling weakness I'm sharing. Of all technique's I've learned, used and perfected flipping is the one that has beat me. A 7-8 ft heavy action rod with 25 pound test feels like a telephone pole to me, within 15 minutes my arms hurt and I'm concentrating on the club rather than the lure. Over the years I have practiced flipping on land and I'm very accurate at hitting land targets. The problems I have encountered while trying flipping on the water are:

I'm much higher on my front deck casting and now the angle is different (game changed)
I whack my boat with the lure and get a professional over-run, on land this never happens (throw the rod in my rod locker for the day)
The lure smashes into the water, No finesse here just a tidal wave. Feel like a bull in a china shop!

I see pros on TV and it looks so easy. Where's that "easy button" when you need it?

I would truly appreciate any guidance.

There are some old posts on pitching and flipping, but I can't find them right now. I'll keep looking. I'm another one who doesn't get it when it comes to flipp'n. I don't know what the advantages are to flipp'n vs. pitching, the later is what I use to probe lay-downs ect. We'll see what the guys have to say. Carl
