Haven't tried one yet, doesn't really appeal to me either. I guess it's supposed to swim and make noise? Been reading a lot about it with guys winning tournaments, but I don't see any use for it around here. Will keep an open mind though, who knows! Johnnie

Johnnie,
You might want to give them a try. I threw a jiggerbait (Chatterbait knock-off) on the Mississippi River just south of you last weekend and got several nice bass and the biggest one of the day. This was my first time throwing it and I think I'm convienced it is more than a gimmick but hasn't made favorite bait status yet.
Also, welcome to the ABA Magazine.

In response to the new "HOT" lure, the chatterbait, I hope serious bass fishermen are not taken in by yet another gimmick. We all know that lures are nothing more than tools to be used according to the presentation needed at that time to connect with the bass - speed and depth control, and the current working strike zone. You probably already have something that will work in your tacklebox...keep it as simple as possible and don't get distracted by marketing.

bassinduo, I agree and disagree with you. True,. this won't be the senko of wire baits but guys are catching a ton of fish on them. I make my own version for my tackle business and I'm selling a bunch. I've caught good fish on them to know they work so it isn't a gimmick. A gimmick is the Moto Lure.

Maybe I better re-think this Chatterbait, been hearing lots of great stuff about it. I'm not easily fooled, but only a fool doesn't take chances. Johnnie

Ken, thanks for the welcome to ABA Magazine, it was a thrill to get an article published, I hope to do a lot more in the future. Plan on fishing some ABA tournamnets too. Easy money for someone!

My son and I love the Chatterbait. We have caught a lot of nice fish here with it. It can be used in so many different ways. It does a great job and what I have noticed so far is if a fish wants it it takes it. No soft strikes or near misses so far.
