possible world record
I didn't say the fish was fake, I just don't believe it weighed 25 pounds. The guy says he has a good job and doesn't need the money, I don't believe that either. Every few months someone catches a "new world record" bass but somehow it just never gets recognized as the record. Am I to believe that everyone that catches a bass over 23 pounds is a total idiot and can't get the paper work done properly?

Sorry Johnnie, I misunderstood. One of the flaws of this type of conversation.
I do believe the weight, but only because there were so many witnesses to the catch and weighing of this fish.
As I said, as with the other reported "world record" bass, it will be controversial for years. And more so whenever the record is finally broken. Which I firmly believe will be from one of those tiny California lakes.
Richard.

The weight was 25-5 and the fish was put back because it was foul hooked. It can't qualify for thebIGFA record because Californai has a rule on the books that and fish foul hooked whether intentionally or not has to be released.
I believe Mac Weakley thinks he's going to catch it again. Anyone read Sowbelly??? This guy and his friends are all over the book. Good read about trophy hunter mindset.

Yeah, I'm sure the record will be broken, and that's okay. I just hope it's caught by an honest angler who needs the money and can handle the fame. I also hope it's caught right here in the good ole' USA. I always thought Bob Crupi, Cal. would catch it, he caught and released a 22 pounder. I hope that big hawg went deep after it was released, probably wouldn't spawn now.
