When fishing a crankbait I like a 7 foot MH cranking rod. Baitcasters can be tough to learn. Just start with a heavy bait and work your way down. I set the magnets on three and just remember to slow the spool with you finger before it hits the water to prevent backlash.I use a quantum accurist for flipping and crankbaits and a quantum energy baitcaster for jigs and worm fishing. When fishing dock you want to do a roll cast to get the bait under the dock or grab the bait with you hand and flip under the docks.
