What would you say is the best lure company is it like strike king yamamoto or what.

On3, you'll never get a fair answer to that question, we all have our favorites and sponsorships to promote. All name brand products are good, if they wern't they wouldn't be aroung long.
Bomber, Storm, Strike King Yamamoto, Poe's, Cotton Cordell-they all make great products. Just pick one and learn to use it as best you can, learning to use one tool effectively will catch you more fish than trying to buy out the store and never really getting good with any one product. One thing I found when I started is that when I went with cheaper store brands that I was not getting a good value. If you need for the baits to last a while and work right go with the highest quality you can AFFORD ON YOUR BUDGET. I have just started working more on cranking and because of that I look for baits that give info on how deep they run, not all brands give that on the package. This info is some thing I am still looking for and find interresting that the guys that love to crank seem to have a knack for. I have found a book on cranking, it is full of info but a bit pricey. I think it should be on every package the runnig depth of a lipped crank bait.

As a general rule, no.

Most of the more inexpensive baits are poor copies of successful models. The hardware is not up to par, hooks the cheapest they can find, body materials by the lowest bidder. The baits are not tested and tuned as well. The workmanship is shoddy at best, dowright horrible at worst. Mold seams not lined up, bills out of alignement .... And so on.

There are some exceptions, Bass Pro Shops and Cabeleas are the first that come to mind. But those exceptions are very rare.

Let's look at this way. You go ahead and buy the $2.99 bait. It's six months later. You managed to make the long trip to Lake Hawg Heaven. The second cast the biggest bass you've ever seen much less hooked smacks the living daylights out of your bait. After a very brief fight, the catch of a lifetime gets loose. After you , cuss, cry, moan and whine, you reel up ... that's when you notice the rear hook pulled out of the bait. The thin cheap wire was not fixed into the body well enough to withstand a heavy fish.

Now, was that $2.99 bait all that much of a bargain?

RW is as right as can be. Buy two of the good ones instead of four of the cheap ones. Learn how to use them right.

In the long run you'll be more than glad you did. In fact, the same reply can apply to any tackle you buy! You get what you pay for.

Hard enough to hook em, don't want equipment failure to let em get unbuttoned. I do that well enough all by myself, thank you very much.

Most cheap baits will either end up costing you money due to dull hooks or just not work. Most of the cheaper crankbaits are not made the same and come with have scratches straight out of the package or marks right out of the package. I used lucky craft RC's last year with success and continue to use then this year, I also like tungsten weight over lead for increased feel and smaller size.

AND... there is an easy way to get very good at using any particular lure/bait. Cap'n Chuck always taught me to take just one (type of)lure when you go fishing. That way you HAVE TO MAKE IT WORK!
And be patient, in most cases it is better to slow down than to speed up.
