Deep bass

Hey all,sorry I've been gone so long.The local tourney season is almost over.Not doing too bad.A few wins,and alot of top 20,s.Got a question.On a few lakes on the west coast,I've noticed alot of points and ledges,where bass are hanging around.These points and ledges are in 20-25 ft of water.I have a few crankbaits that go that deep,but can't get the bass to bite.I've tried drop shotting,jigs,carolina rigs,and crankbaits,with no bites.How should I fish these baits,to get the bites I want?I could have won two tourneys,if I had the bites.Any help would be great. thanks,Bassman

Try a Yamamoto Fat Ika on a #2 or #4 split-shot hook. ((NOT 2/0 OR 4/0 )
Insert the hook into the center of the bushy end about 1/4 inch, then turn the hook out 90 degrees to expose the point. That's it!

Now, toss this rig out just a little bit and let it sink to the bottom. When the line goes slack, check for fish then jig it up 3 feet or so and let it fall again.
You want to fish verticle not horizontal.

I know, it looks stupid but just try it. And when you start winning the big money, send me my 10%! LOL

I too would recommend vertical fishing, but I'd opt for a jigging spoon, about one ounce. Fish it the same way, jig it off the bottom about a foot or so and let it fall back under just a little line pressure so you can feel the strike, which will be more of a (tick) than strike. Tail spinners are also good (Little George), white or chrome. Fish them the same way. Another choice that is painstaking but works is to make very long casts with a 1 ounce spinnerbait with small number 2 or 3 blades and crawl it slowly parallel to the points. Slow, but effective. I'm also having good success in deep water with a V&M Lightning Blade jig in white or Texas sage color. The lure is like the Chatterbaits. Fish it slowly along the bottom with a four inch straight tail worm trailer. Good luck, leave a few for seed. Johnnie

Hey all,thanks for the advice.I gave it a try on my home waters,and it worked great.I know now,how to catch'em in tournaments,to place higher in the money.Thanks again,you all are great. Bassman
