Floro carbon

Post by RW-reeler »

Hi guys, I have a few questions about floro carbon lines.
Are ther any lines available in bulk spools that help to offset the final cost of use?
Have you found that you need a special knot to keep from breaking the line when setting the hook?
Is there a good knot to use when you want a leader of floro carbon, to either braids or mono?
Have the lines life span stood up when stored on the reel or even on the spool?

Just some things I thought I would check on with the fall's clearer water in play now.
I have been rehabing well after surgery and have been looking for any excuse to get on the water, but the Doc said not by myself so I need to find or convince a partner to get out on the water

Fish happy,

RW, glad you're doing better, a day on the water can work wonders too. I don't actually use floro lines much, our water is nearly all dingy, so mono works fine. I use an improved clinch knot on everything, seems to work okay. As for connecting leaders, I never do it, I just use whatever line I have spooled on. Hope you get some knowledgeable replies, not many using the site right now?? JOhnnie

RW glad your doing better too!! I have only used it a couple times and I too experenced alot of break offs and never tried it again. I mainly fish with mono or braid now.

Some one told me to try the flourcarbon leader material that it work better and didnt break off as bad. But I have not found any near me to try but I keep looking of for it.
Thanks,

I use florocarbon and braid. I'll tie on a leader line using Vanish Transition, and a double uni-knot. Just don't do what I did. I've been too lazy to retie my knots, so yesterday I had a break-off at the knot, and lost the crankbait and fish. Da. carl
