World Record Bass

Post by johnnie crain outdoors »

Hey gang, let's have some fun. Do you think there will be a documented and accepted World Record Bass caught in 2006-2007? Where do you think is the best place to catch it and using what technique? Do you think a guide, a pro angler or a weekend warrior has the best chance of landing that big money-big fame prized fish? Do you even want to see the record broken? I've got some hunches!! Let's hear it -Johnnie

I'm sure it will be broken. I would imagin that the fish that was caught or should I say snagged will be watched pretty well this next spring. There will be alot of people out there trying to get her. I bet it will be caught bed fishing.

Now what I would like to see is me catching that big fish this year while fishing one of my tournaments!!

I'm sure as luck will have it. The fish will probalbly be caught by a crappie fisherman on a minnow and a gold aberdine hook on a zebco 33. Now wouldnt that put a damper on alot of bass fishermen?? Pretty much how our state record fish was caught.
Thanks,

Some of those weekend warriors only fish for the big berthas. I think a pro or guide will be working on a different size of fish. The people that only go for the large ones might get the record, but I too think that luck will play a trump card.
It would be great if a beginner or a kid in the back of the boat just for the ride would be the lucky angler. Not like it dosen't happen to us in one form or another.
I do think it will be in SoCal, they have just had to many big top twenty pounders from there.
Good luck to who ever gets it, I just hop it is a REEL SPORTSMEN who lands her.

I think the record will fall in February or March 2007. I look for it to be caught by an avid angler seeking the big money prize and it will come out of a small private or pay to play lake. Sight fishing with a giant tube should do the trick. I think this time the angler will do it right, verify-photo etc. and claim the record and at least part of the big bucks. I have mixed feelings about the record being broken, but at least this time the prize is worth the trouble and the fish won't be eaten. Johnnie

Well, I think it will go (record) in the spring by one of those howg hunters in Cal. Weather it will be done this year??but in the next few years. I think the record has already been broken, but with the dollars involved, who knows?

Carl, the record has been broken by the guy that accidentally snagged the 25 pounder and released it. Got to be a terrible feeling hooking that fish on the outside of the head and it not counting.
On a side note, (BASS) also now has a no snag rule, I see lots of the pros begging for the fish to be hooked inside the mouth, if not, they can't weigh the fish, can you imagine that, hook a monster in a $100,000 tournament and not being able to count it. I'm sure some get weighed anyway, but the guys with cameramen in their boat are out of luck.

I think the bass will be caught at Lake Dixon,in Cal.Most likely in March or April of 2007.I also think that the bait used, will be a swimbait,in a shinner pattern.Would be great,if it was me who caught the fish. Bassman

Bassman, I hope you do catch it. Can you handle the fame, fortune and notoriety that goes with it? I'd like to try!! LOL. I do hope it comes from the USA again though instead of Mexico or Cuba which is a possibilty. I just think it should be a good ole American bass.
