Anybody watch Bassmasters?

Post by JoeM »

Lake Oroville made every angler work hard in B.A.S.S.'s presentation this weekend. Shows you what can be done with perseverence and confidence.

What are your comments on the Drop Shot, the lake, the tournament, etc?

Let's hear from you. JoeMo

The drop shot is an awesome technique (once you get the hang of it). I like to use it a few different ways with a few different baits.

Joe, I've been dropshotting my way to first place finishes in the second half of our club season. I won one tournament outright using soley the drop shot technique and I culled three fish with it in our classic to capture the coveted win. This is one of the few techniques were I am absorbing all of the printed articles about it like a vaccuum. Go to the Yamamoto site to check out some really good features on drop shotting. I've caught fish on it everywhere I tried it. I learned to do it on Mahopac where I took huge numbers of smaller smallmouths. I could only wonder what it would produce this time of year...I'm thinking about those big females over 4lbs. Anyway, it have worked for me all over LI. I did well with it in Missouri as well. I'm finishing an article about it and I'll post it in the near future.

MMT- I've avoided even trying the drop shot because I don't like to change midstream in
a season. Especially after tournaments have started. I obviously will try to get up to speed in the off-season. Thanks for the tip about all the articles available.

Keep posting. It's appreciated. Joe

Anybody care to estimate the size of that lunker that spit the bait back at Mark Davis on the Bassmasters this past weekend?

I won't. JoeMo

Jeremiah- Mark is a bigger man than I am, plus he was there and I wasn't.

I did watch a 6-8 get caught perhaps 250 ft. from the boat I was in Sunday. What a gorilla he was!

Thanks for posting. Joe

Dan- I don't make comparisons. You are right; that was a monster bass you subdued up in Putnam Co.

I learned a trick or three that day (night).
It's a shame the ice man will be here so soon. Maybe we would get up there again. Well, maybe next season. Joe
