Stick Marsh & Farm 13 bass have taken a turn for the beds. They are not on the beds. They have made the turn from the edges of the spawning grounds and made the move into the shallower water to feed up, pig out as they say, for a few weeks prior to the first spawn. With the size of the bass in Stick Marsh and Farm 13 we should say "Hawg out".

The wind came howling from the North and dropped our air temperature to the mid forties. Water temperature dropped to 64 degrees. Tha sounds pretty good but it was a one day drop from the 80's. The bass have adjusted and are really, really fat as they have begun that feeding spree.

Some of the bass are fat and sassy. They look like sterioid bass. Then there are some that still need a little growth. The males start first and then the females. The best time to catch a MONSTER bass is after Thanksgtiving and before Christmas. Sure, you can do it any thime. But right now is best.

Artifficial wise the bass will hit any kind of soft jerk bait; Rattle Traps, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits. Some of the bass are in four feet of water and some are in almost no water. When they hit a buzzbait in that "no water" you ought to see that stuff fly- water, bottom, plants, the fish and the lure.

Water levels are high. However, the water level is dropping very slowly. Care is important. Fishing the stumpy and wooded areas requires extra precaution. With our winds the boat will drift into a stump and someone can go out when the boat drift changes.

Traffic at the lakes is fairly light. Always is this time of year. Folks start to worry about Santa and hunting.

Hugh Crumpler has been catching and guiding on Stick Marsh and Farm 13 since December of 1991.
