Water Clarity: 2-3 feet
Yesterday Dan & Tracy Kenney of Massachussetts fished Farm 13 with me for 5 1/2 hours and caught 22 bass with the majority on topwater baits. Excalibur Super Pop-R's, Gags Grabber poppers, and chug bugs all got blasted and many fish were missed. Most fish bit 1-3 seconds after the angler-initiated "pop" and we rarely got bit if we fished too quick.
Later I went to Garcia Reservoir with Jeff Cox for the wednesday night tournament and I was fortunate enough to claim Big Fish honors with a 7.6# pitching reeds in 3 feet of water.
Today Jim Papp of Illinois jumped in for a 3 1/2 hour "squeezed in" trip to Farm 13 where he experienced the most aggressive topwater action he has ever seen. At first things were slow and only 2 fish were scraped up in 1 1/2 hours, then the surface slightly rippled with breeze and the place came wildly alive for about an hour as 13 fish were landed and many more missed or were missed, Jim's 5#er. above is not the biggest we had shots at but that's another fish story.
During this "window of opportunity" speed nor color mattered, the rest of the trip the baits most productive were white-bellied and fished relatively slow very near topped-out grass.
