Hi guys.
Truthfully, I am a complete novice at freshwater fishing, but my buddy just bought a house w/a boat on ERskine Lake in NJ. Lake is gorgeous. We took his boat out on its maiden voyage 2 weeks ago and caught a few rather large bass on some small sized shiners. Tried to go back the following week, and all we caught was a sun burn (the weather has been nice).
Anyway, I'm looking for some advise from someone who has fished this water b-4. Are shiners the right bait?? Or should we use some sort of lures??
Other than the island by the boat launch - are there any other hot spots???
And last but not least - what else can I expect to catch here other than bass so I can perhaps fish multiple poles.
Any input is much appreciated!

I've fished this lake many times before. I go up with my neighbor to his cousins house on the lake. i find the fishing there to be very good. I usually like to target the docks during the early afternoon and evening. I like to throw a jig usually as far back as i can get it under the docks. I've caught some monsters like this. When it gets hot out go deeper and use a worm or lizard and some weight and just crawl it along the bottom. AT night you might want to try some catfishing. I've had some great runs with a few (one being 10 lbs). I have lots of luck using hots dogs/chicken/bacon. There are also crappie if you want to do some fun fishing.

Thanks!!! If you are going for bass there, do you in fact recommend shiners though?
