Lake Norman is a very large body of water and depending on where you launch could play a big part in how and where to fish. In the summer months, as it is now the fish tend to school pretty regularly on main channel points early in the morning. I have had pretty good luck catching schooling fish on a topwater lure like pop-r's and spooks. Also throwing a buzz bait around retaining walls and rocky riff raff banks. Later in the day when the sun gets up, a DD-3 crank bait or a Bill Norman crank in crawfish colors is working well off the same points. If you are up above the hwy 150 bridge, go up the river above Long Island in the river current, especially if Duke Power is running the wheels at the dam, and fish the fallen timber with a black and blue jig and pig. Most any cover like brush and docks will pay off in the mid day using a texas rig worm, in red shad color or a jig and pig. Hope this helps you out a little.
