I fished Lake Tohopekaliga by Kissimmee Fl. the last two sundays. The lake was heavy fished, lots of traffic as well as they have tour boats that run the lake. I caught 3 bass the first sunday and two the next. They were not great sized 2-3 lbs the first sunday and a 3 lb 2 oz and 10 inch bass the next.
I assume the small fish were due to the little beetle spin I was using with a panfish assasin tail. I started out with rubber worms and went to a rapala suspending minnow then I tried a rubber crawdad and even went to a arbogast jitterbug and finally the beetle spin thing. On both days the beetle spin produced when all else failed.
Got any ideas , I moved around a lot when things seemed slow and switched lures several times . I was thinking of shiners although I am not the biggest fan of live bait. I do have two live bait well things in my tracker targa boat. I know there are better fish in there.
I think its a lot to do with the traffic as most places had 2 boats in the area I wanted to be all day and both days. Neither day was great weather, cooler than normal with windy and choppy water.

Lake Toho. Kissimmee Fl.
My first artificial lure was a Flatfish orange with black dots, found it on a branch at 10 years old, still ice on the banks. I fell in getting it,real wood lure, tied it on and watched as it shimmied back, two feet from shore a 4lb 2oz hawg swallowed it, and I have been hooked ever since.

Super Bowl sunday I hit Lake Toho again using live shiners as bait. On my first cast I landed a 23 inch long bass with a 13 inch girth on my cheap little dial scale ( $4.99 ) wal-mart it weighed just a hair under 5 lbs! I caught three more in the three to just over 4 lb range. My cousin caught two nice bass over 3 lbs each. We started with artificials and this off brand deep diver , like a rapala with a big wide spoon lip to go deep, I hit a 4 and half pounder 22 inhes long and 12 inch girth. Then a weird thing, this lure is 6 1/2 inches long and a speck ( black crappie ) swallowed half this crank bait ! I got him in but he was a floater after removing the lure. All in all we had a great time my 9 yr old caught a 3 lb bass and was a big grin from ear to ear.
You pros that write here got a nice job in my opinion. I always love when I hear you guys talk about taking the kids fishing, I was introduced to fishing by my grandad and dad. I love every moment I am blessed to go fishing. You know it seems the kids who get to go fishing not only benefit from the fun of the sport, but also from the time they spend with adults in a fun atmosphere, you know treating them like pals instead of parenting. Anyway I am sure it beats being left alone to fend for themselves.

Nice post Ed, especially about the kids. Kids that have a caring adult that spends time with them are a lot less likely to get in trouble, it really doesn't matter what you do as long as you do it together. Of course, I feel fishing is the greatest sport to bring folks together. Close quarters and time to "just" talk.
