Just a little heads up on Reel cleaning.
This week I have been cleaning and replacing line on my reels. I little trick I learned from someone who cleans reels is to take the barings out of your spool system and soak them in Asitone. This will clean out all the old oil and rust and what ever else is in there causing them to not work properly. I let the barings soak for about an hour to two hours and then let them dry. NOw if you have different reel you are cleaning dont get the barings mixed up keep them seperated to make sure get them back in the right reel.
After soaking I took them out and let them dry and wiped them down good. I bought some Quantam Hot Sauce at Bass Pro Shops and let me say this stuff is great. My reels work better now than when I bought them.
One mistake that folks make when oiling their reels is using to much oil. If it calls for one drop just use one drop. Over oiling can actually slow your reel down. Plus all the extra oil seems to gather what ever dust and crud that is around. Believe me one drop of the HOT Sauce will do the trick.
Just pay attention when you disasemble your reel that you dont drop any parts and get a drawing of the parts so you can put it back together correctly. If you dont want to tackle a job like this send it to someone who will do it for you. But it is easier than you think to do it yourself.
Hope this helps some of yall out.
Oh yes be sure and replace any worn out parts it does make a hudge difference.

Fishing Reel cleaning
Good job Conley. I clean reels for a bunch of guys and I've been lubing with Hot Sauce by Quantum, it is the best reel oil and grease that I've ever used.

Fishing Reel cleaning
Hi Guys..
this would be my first post.. been reading for awhile. I have a bottle of Q's Hotsauce also.. but have not found no advice or tips on what parts of the Baitcaster (curado) to apply it to.. checked quatums website and they dont even say where to apply it to..
would i use it on the bearings? instead of Rocket Fuel yellow? line guide etc?
thanks

I use it on the barings and on the worm gears for the level wind. If you look at the owners manual for the reel there will be a diagram that shows you were to oil. I just use the hot suace instead of oil.,
