That is really a great idea for guys who fish from the shoreline... I wish I had one when growing up!

I say its just not worth it. I had a piranahhmax 20 that costed $99.99 and after the first year I used it the screen faded. also it annoyed the heck out of my dad and me when the fuse would blow.

I've had one of these units for two years without any problem. It comes in handy in the boat as well. If I have to enter a very small backwater creek, I can cast the sensor into the area to check the depth to see if I need to blast through or idle. You can also check shoreline depths without having to run over it with the boat which spooks fish. I love my little Piranha. Johnnie
