Greatest Bass Fishing Innovation

With out a doubt, I find and catch far more fish (of all sizes), due to sidefinder- sonar. In shallow water or under cover of any type, fish are detected; over deep water, schools of baitfish or bass are detected.

In early spring or late fall, baitfish schools are tight and selective of where along a shoreline they're hanging out near. It's different every season. Find the food - find the fish!
Hundreds of instances where the sonar picked up loner bass, my partner or I would be alerted as to what direction and distance from the boat. I would direct his or my cast to that spot and wella - fish on.
I'm not keen on casting practice, especially during a tournament, and some of my best fishing is in shallow water. To eliminate as much fishless water as possible is primary, but also not to pass by good water, is as important.
If the shallow water pattern is off, I switch to deeper water tactics and the conventional sonar with a 200 mHz, high resolution beam versus 50 mHz.-(another great innovation to the standard mHz, 17 degree transducer.)(Mike D is right-on about proper mHz.)
For me, the side-finder is as important as any other development. The worse thing Eagle did was drop the Magna series sidefinder.
