TV host survey

Man do I have to choose just one?

I would have to say that Denny Brauer is my favorite for teaching you something.
Then it would have to be Nixon for teaching and having some fun, but then again Nixon is my hero anyway. Would love to meet him somday.

Joe Thomas put on a good show on the outdoor channel about what its like to fish on the pro-trail.

For all around fun and getting a good laugh Jimmy Houston is hands down one of the better ones.

I watched the show with Beat Charlie Moore the other day for the first time. You have to admit that is a good show. Like Dennis said he's a little hard to get used to at first but then by the end of the show you are rooting for him.

I like the Dance show because that's the type of fishing I can relate too. I remember a show from Texas about 10 yrs ago that was always talking about Jawtec baits...don't remember the name but I liked the show(Choke Canyon maybe?). Dennis, I am going to check on your link. I did a show called Lunkerville this past summer that will appear on the sportsmans network April 4 at 8pm. If you don't get the channel, I know they stream live video on the web. I saw it, it is cool. It is a lot of pressure. I wound up having a good day with a fish of about 4lbs and a mess of twos and smaller but I really felt the pressure to produce. There is some footage on the show of me in a tournament landing a house of a bass....well for NY standards anyway. In all it was a good show but I never felt loose until I got that bigger fish. It didn't help that I dropped a fish over five on camera early on right at the boat. It is tough to perform when you are nervous like that. The producer liked it though, he invited me back for another show.

I have had the good fortune of meeting and talking to a number of TV hosts as I had a show of my own back in the early 90's and here is how I would rate them.

Al Lindner - Talks as fast as he does on tv, but actually listens to you. Never met anyone that truly understands so many different species.

Tony Dean - A true gentleman that you can't help like.

Bob Mehsikomer - If you're looking for muskie and pike...you have to talk to this guy.

Babe Winkelman - Seems friendlier if you're female.

Roland Martin - Bass Wizard

Forrest Wood - I know...he's not a show host, but I asked Forrest for a 10-15 minute interview for my show and got one of the most pleasureable 2 hour conversations I've ever had. My cameraman finally shut down and just joined the conversation. Something I will never forget.
