Brendan, I'm sticking to my moral guns on this one-NO PET BASS- as records. In Iowa, it's always a farm pond fish that breaks records, just doesn't seem fair to me. I have been turned down by far to many land owners who are sheltering fish-we- the public paid for, the one's the DNR builds, stocks and hopes anglers will get to fish there. But, it's rare to gain entry to a strangers pond. Family and friends only deal. Glad to hear all the comments on this post, Bassin' members have some good opinions whether or not I agree with them. I don't agree with bass caught out of a private lake or pond being considered for any record. The bass, or any species for that matter, caught for a record should be taken from waters where everyone has the same opportunity to catch it. Private lakes and ponds are only open to a select few thus eliminating equal opportunity.
