According to the Danbury News-Times 6-1-2002,
violent thunderstorms on Saturday were bringing reports that local residents had experienced what might have been tornado activity.
The paper said "...the only confirmed report of a tornado was at 7:03PM in Whaley Lake in Dutchess Co., NY" It also reported that the storms were "triggered by a cold front passing over the warm muggy air."
I had been fishing my home lake as the storm moved in. I decided that the honorable thing was not to bother the bass during a T-storm.

Whaley Lake- Saturday May 31st
Dan- Yes, we also had one confirmed today up in Brookfield. It was also last Saturday. It roared through 800 yards of a wooded section taking down trees. Winds were between 73 and 112 mph. It ranged at times from F0 to F1 which isn't exactly a gust of wind! The info again is from the News-Times here in Danbury of which I am only a subscriber.
